This holiday season, things look a little different for Islanders. The PEI business community is here to serve you safely.
Here are six simple ways we can continue to love local this holiday season:
1. Shop safe locally
Our local shops will be open for in-store shopping at 50% capacity over the next couple of weeks. All businesses owners across the Island are working tirelessly to ensure their businesses are clean, have proper sanitation stations and are safe for you to visit. Before heading out to shop in your favourite local store remember to wear your mask, practice physical distancing and wash your hands before and after visiting any public place, and this is an important one as well, remember to be kind! We are all in this together, and our business owners want to be able to help you finish your holiday shopping in the safest way possible. Be patient, be kind and remember the true meaning behind the holiday season!
2. Shop Local online
Many businesses across the Island offer online shopping! This shopping method is an effortless way to shop for your loved ones this holiday season, and you don’t even have to get off the couch to do so! As a bonus, your purchases may even get to you quicker. Some businesses offer local pick-up options or have their method of delivery. So, remember you can finish your holiday shopping safely from the comfort of your home by clicking ‘order’ on your favourite local businesses’ website!
3. Curbside pick-up
By now, we’ve all gotten used to the ‘curbside pickup’ method of shopping. There are a few ways to arrange a curbside pickup. You can contact your favourite locally owned business by phone or email and arrange for curbside pickup or choose the curbside pickup option on their website. While you do have to leave your house for this option, you can still stay warm and cozy in the safety of your car! We recommend turning up the holiday tunes on your way to pick up your goods to get you into the holiday spirit!
4. Order take-out or delivery
In place of the holiday parties this festive season, why not enjoy a delicious meal from one of PEI’s many locally-owned restaurants! Many restaurants are now offering take-out and delivery options for you and your family to enjoy. Don’t forget to order some tasty craft beer or local wine to pair with your take-out dinner. Many of these establishments offer Island-wide delivery!
5. Purchase a Gift Card
If you’re at a loss for what to get the ‘hard to buy for’ person on your list, why not get them a gift card from their favourite local businesses. Gift cards take all the guessing out of whether or not this person will like it or not. They’re an easy way to please any person on your list! Gift cards can be ordered online, picked up curbside, or in-store.
6. Sharing local businesses content online
Whether you’ve finished your holiday shopping or not, you can continue to support local businesses! A free and simple way to show some love is to share their content online on social media. When you share their content, you may inspire someone in your following to purchase something from these local businesses. It’s a beyond simple way to Love Local this holiday season safely.
