Love Local, PEI: A Touch of Gold

A Touch of Gold is a 42 year-old family owned business and 3rd generation Jewellery store of a mother-and-daughter team, Jennifer and Ashley,  located in Montague.

The key to Touch of Gold’s success is observing and listening to their tradespeople, clients, employees, and colleagues. Change is always great, and no ask is too big or too small. Their team will go the extra mile to make a deadline and create the perfect gift. Their motto is to “Bring the Sparkle Home.”

Jennifer purchased the business from her parents in 2009 when they decided to retire after working in the industry for 29 years. Jennifer has been involved in the business and completed training and retail management from the Canadian Jewellery Institute of Canada. As a dedicated retailer of the Jewellery industry, she has been an active director and President of the Atlantic Provinces Jewelers Association and more recently served as director of the Canadian Jewellery Buying group, where she then went on to be the first female President in Canada.

Touch of Gold has an extensive inventory of brands such as Bulova, Elle, Maple Leaf Diamonds and many more. They offer repair and engraving services in store,  and also sell pottery made by Island makers.

Touch of Gold’s goal is to succeed within their community and beyond by offering exceptional services through well-trained employees and the best quality for the best price. “Our customers have become like family, and we enjoy the interaction to supply the perfect piece of Jewellery or gift,” says Jennifer.

What Jennifer loves the most about being a small business owner is being able to go above and beyond with personal touches when customers are purchasing items for special occasions. “I love the interaction and satisfaction of being a part of someone’s special occasion. When you love your job, it creates a great work environment for employees and customers,” says Jennifer.
