Richards Bait and Tackle is the definition of a family business. David got his first rod when he was 12 from his grandfather, and he’s been fishing ever since. David then passed on his passion to his two sons, Matthew and Kyle, who took their dad’s passion and turned it into a business when they opened Richards Bait and Tackle in 2019.
They opened the business to grow the angling sport on PEI and supply fishers with the best products. They offer fishing products from hooks to rods to reels and everything in between. In addition to products needed for angling, they provide guided striped bass tours and winter perch experiences.
“Seeing people tell stories of their first catch or that catch of a lifetime is what we love most about being small business owners,” says David, Kyle and Matthew. “It means that all the risks we took to open our small business were worth it.”
